The
FMC Measurement Solutions TopFlow Multiphase Metering Sytem
provides accurate and continuous measurement of liquid, water
and gas, and is ideally suited to supplying crude oil production
well operators with real time flow regime statistics.
Overview
The TopFlow Multiphase Flowmeter is a second-generation multiphase
meter that assimilates conventional metering components into
one compact flow tube.

The
sensor is a simple venturi design incorporating capacitance plates
and a differential pressure transmitter to measure the flow rates
of oil, water and gas accurately and continuously without the use
of a radioactive source or the need to condition the flow stream
with separation devices, mixers or by-pass lines. The flowmeter
covers a wide operating range, all water cuts, salinities, viscosities
and flow regimes with minimum permanent pressure loss.
Applications
The TopFlow Multiphase Metering System provides real time information
on well flow with respect to variations in gas versus liquid flowrates.
Installing a meter on each well monitors production capability as
well as providing early warning of problems associated with gas
lifting systems or onset of severe slugging conditions. Additionally,
the TopFlow multiphase meter requires less maintenance than conventional
test separators and eliminates the hazards associated with chemicals
used to separate oil from water, resulting in reduced operating
costs.

ensuring a safe and less complicated operating environment.
Compact Design - the slim, short and lightweight design of the meter
allows for ease of installation and a significant reduction in offshore
platform space.
High performance - with minimal pressure drop and the ability to
meaure flow rate independent of changes to the flow regime, the
TopFlow flowmeter provides reliable and accurate measurement results
equal to or better than those obtained from a test separator.
Flexibility - the meter can be operated as a stand-alone unit and
/ or interfaced to customer data aquisition systems.
Low maintenance - the meter and all associated components of the
system require minimal to no maintenance, significantly reducing
operating costs.
