Omega
5000
The
Omega 5000 Terminal Automation System has been designed with distributed
processing in mind to allow for multiple levels of fallback operation.
For example, if communications to a Host Mainframe is interrupted
then the system can be operated without the host. Similarly the
Truck loading controllers can operate in a standalone mode when
required.
As
is the case with most computer system implementations, systems designed
for facilities such as oil terminals must be based on fundamental
assumptions about the business requirements of the operating company.
The installation of automation systems for downstream distribution
at terminals and bulk depots should provide much more than simple
electronic metering. It should streamline the operations at bulk
terminals: providing new services to customers and providing to
the bulk supplier a variety of methods for implementing a market
strategy and managing its business.
